Biography
George was born in Burlingame, CA, but has lived most his life in Princeton, NJ. He went to Princeton High School and competed in Science Bowl and Science Olympiad, where he gained a strong passion for the biological sciences. George has a strong passion for doing unrelated things that pique his interest and calling it interdisciplinary work, which has led him to pursue his bachelor's in Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE) at Princeton University ('27), with a minor in Robotics. The realm of bioinspired robotics is thus the perfect place for him, letting him combine his interests in engineering design, robotic controls, and the natural world to discover new problems and get his hands covered in grease and flux.
Outside of academics, George enjoys longboarding, reading science-fiction novels, boxing, and making all of his friends into little chibi versions of themselves in his Tomodachi Life world.
Research
George Kopf is working with graduate student Derrick Roseman to research flying fish fluid dynamics using robotic model organisms (RMOs). His project involves integrating embedded sensors and controls into the mechanical RMO, advancing the device from a model organism to a functional robot with autonomous feedback controls.
